Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need experience before joining?

No prior experience or fitness level is necessary. Our Jiu Jitsu and Kickboxing classes are designed to accommodate all levels, especially beginners. Our inclusive, team-oriented environment ensures everyone progresses together. Feel free to observe a class before deciding on doing the free trial.

Do I have to fight as part of the training?

This is a common concern, and we understand why. No one wants to start in martial arts with the fear of getting hit or attacked. At Coalition, our classes are designed to provide a safe and supportive training environment. Our goal is to build you up, step by step, in a positive and encouraging way. We are a martial arts academy, not a fight club.

What should I wear to my first class, and when should I arrive?

Wear basic athletic clothing without zippers to avoid injuries. Compression gear is ideal. Arrive 15 minutes early to sign a waiver and familiarize yourself with the facility.

How clean is the gym?

Our gym is cleaned daily, including sweeping and sanitizing. We’ve maintained a spotless record with zero known infections over the years.

Why the price of a membership?

Membership at Coalition offers more than a typical gym—it provides expert training from seasoned professionals. Your membership is an investment in your personal growth. It supports our specialized facility and connects you with the high-quality and growth-oriented individuals who are part of our club. We are here to provide you with the most benefit for your commitment.

Will I develop self-defense skills?

Real self-defense goes beyond a few techniques. It's about building confidence, self-awareness, and the instinct to respond effectively in dangerous situations. Long-term combat sports training is the best way to develop these skills.

Is personal training available?

Yes, private sessions are available depending on instructor availability and your specific needs. These sessions are ideal for those seeking an introduction before joining regular classes.

Is training gear provided?

For Jiu Jitsu, just wear athletic clothing. For Kickboxing, we offer gear for your trial period while you acquire your own equipment. After the trial, you will need to purchase 16 oz boxing gloves, shin guards, hand wraps, and a mouthpiece if sparring.

What is required to compete as a fighter?

Consistency is key. To pursue competitive goals and gain additional support from coaches, you must demonstrate commitment by training regularly, multiple times a week, over several months. Participation in MMA classes requires ongoing training in both Kickboxing and Jiu Jitsu.

Can youths participate in adult classes?

Yes, individuals aged 14 and over may join adult classes if they demonstrate maturity and capability.
